Console Wars

The gaming world is slowly bracing itself for the impending insanity of another holiday season. With a slew of incredible new releases on the next generation consoles, excitement is in the air. Granted it is only mid-September, but if you are thinking of buying a Wii, XBox 360 or PS3, you might want to consider picking one up soon cause in a few weeks they'll be very hard to find.

As for the big 3, Microsoft's 360 is selling as low as $200, Wii's still run about $300 and the PS3 will still cost your first born child (or $400+).

The "Great Satan" (GameStop) announced this week that they expect supply to be way to low to meet demand. In fact, don't expect those corporate Nazi's at Gamestop to be able to satisfy the desires of gamers they pretend to serve. Furthermore, if you do venture into one of their "caves of despair" expect to be solicited for Game Informer and various pre-orders for handhelds and other new releases.

Hey GameStop, how about keeping your store stocked with the stuff your customers actually want! I don't want a copy of Dave Mirra's Moto-X or a subscription to Game Informer!

Aaaarrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Can you tell that I have a problem with GameStop? That is the perfect name for them, because they STOP you from getting what you want! I pretty much stopped going in there after they ditched the old school games. I consider them an 8-Bit Cock Block (and that isn't cool).

I digress, anyway, if you're interested in picking up one of these consoles I'd suggest hitting the store or the usual online retailers sooner rather than later.

Hey there,

Maybe a little off-topic, but I thought you might enjoy some of my 8bit music at http://thesixtyone.com/activeknowledge. Awesome blog by the way, I'll be back! :-)

I own all 3 consoles, if i had to recommend one for a new buyer it would be the xbox 360. The ps3 is nice if you want a blu ray player though. The Wii will collect dust on your shelf after the initial novelty wears off, and believe me it does.

And as you said, for the love of god DON'T buy from game stop.

I've been debating which console to buy and I'm thinking the 360 is the way to go. I love the idea of going online and emulating some of my favorite old school games with the Wii, but I already have the old school systems anyway so it doesn't really matter (to me).

Besides Star Wars KOTOR 3...

As for the "Great Satan" (GameStop), everytime I see a Game Informer Mag. my skin crawls.

I am still using my PS2. If I were to get another system I would go with the PS3 because of the Blue-Ray player. I cant afford a new game system right now. I'm still paying off all those nurse outfits I bought on eBay.

Yeah, scrubs aren't cheap. I like the PS3, but the price of blue ray players are dropping so I'll likely get a 360 hopefully soon. It is just a lot of cash, I mean I could buy like 50 classic games for that price.

Maybe I'm too old school for my own gaming good.

Thanks for dropping by!
