Chip'N'Dale Rescue Rangers

One of my favorite games growing up was Chip'N'Dale Rescue Rangers on the NES. Not only was the game fun, but it was enjoyable for players of all ages. The game itself is not only enjoyable due to its loyalty to the television program, but its great music, sound effects, control and playability. In addition to all those great aspects, the game also has a solid replay value based upon the path options in order to complete the game. Granted, one can finish the game in about an hour, but the same can be said about MegaMan, but we still love that one too.

In regards to the actual game itself, the player can control either Chip or Dale as they battle their way through interactive sidescrolling levels. The levels are a decent length and provide some challenges that will have you slapping your knee in frustration. Granted the game ISN'T difficult, but it is fun and provides a certain satisfaction to finishing even to this day. Anyway, the game features the familiar protagonists such as Fat Cat and his cohorts as well as the other Rescue Rangers (Monty, Gadget and Zipper).

Honestly, this game is a lot of fun, but after you play it a few dozen times you will likely be able to finish it without getting hit once or twice. All of the bosses have discernible patterns that can be exploited and all of the enemies have easily exploited weaknesses. Having said that, I still highly recommend picking up this title as it is very enjoyable! Here is some footage pulled from YouTube.

I thought this was such an amazing game when I was little, but I was always afraid that I only thought it was good because it had Chip & Dale in it. I'm glad to see a few pieces of evidence around to suggest it was more than that.

Hey Critic,

Yeah, I felt somewhat similarly until I ordered a copy of the game off of Amazon last fall. I totally forgot how much fun this title was. I'm trying to get my hands on the sequel.

Thanks for stopping in!

I was surprised how much I liked this game. I liked Chip & Dale and the show, but at 13 I couldn't exactly tell all my friends how great a game it was. A nice, straightforward little game.

Hey Fury,

Yeah, admitting to the guys that you dig Chip'N'Dale at that age was definitely something that would get your ass kicked. I had to wait until I was married to admit it in a public forum...

Thanks for stopping in, should have a new review up on Tues or Wed!
